Meet Buddy, affectionately known as Betty Buddy! This beautiful girl is a little ray of sunshine with a BIG personality and plenty to say. One of her favorite expressions is “What?”—and she's not afraid to use it!

Buddy is an affectionate, outgoing Sun Conure who loves being part of the family. She enjoys spending time outside her cage, interacting with her favorite people, and even joining them for showers! Her favorite treats include fresh mango, pineapple, and dried papaya.

Buddy spent the last eight years with a loving family who made the difficult decision to surrender her when they could no longer give her the attention she deserves. She's a social butterfly who thrives on companionship, but she also knows how to communicate when she needs a little personal space.

Like most Sun Conures, Buddy has a powerful voice and isn't shy about using it! She also has a strong fear of brooms, so her future family will need to be mindful of that.

Buddy's ideal home is with an experienced bird owner who understands conure personalities, appreciates their vocal nature, and has plenty of time to give her the love and attention she craves.

He is camera shy - can you tell. Meet Bird — the Nanday Conure who has decided that leaving the house is overrated, strangers are suspicious, and women generally have better judgment. 😂💚

Bird is what we’d lovingly call a professional homebody. His cage is his castle, and he’s currently not interested in pretending otherwise. He doesn’t love being handled and probably isn’t the bird for someone dreaming of an instant shoulder buddy. He needs a person who understands that trust is earned, boundaries matter, and sometimes love looks like sitting nearby singing the Oscar Mayer song while your parrot judges you through the bars.

That said, there’s a lot of personality hiding in there. Bird enjoys being talked and sung to, short baths, beak rubs, having his leg gently petted through the cage, car rides in his travel cage, and watching the bird feeder like it’s premium television. He also mimics tongue clicks, coughs, and sneezes — because apparently normal conversation wasn’t entertaining enough.

He seems to prefer women, and because he’s currently more reserved and particular about handling, we think a calm adult home without young kids would probably suit him best.

Bird has had more social phases in the past — hanging out on shoulders and knees, watching TV, enjoying longer baths and toys — so maybe some of that comes back with patience. Maybe it doesn’t. Either way, the right person won’t adopt him expecting him to become somebody else.

They’ll adopt him because Bird is Bird.

A little opinionated. A little cautious. A little weird. And absolutely deserving of someone patient enough to let him love them on his own terms. ❤️

Misty is a 15-year-old Sun Conure, which means she’s got 15 years of experience being bright, beautiful, and fully qualified to make sure nobody ignores her. 😂

She may be a little older than some of the youngsters coming through Safe Perch, but don’t confuse age with slowing down. Sun Conures are basically tiny tropical parrots running on sunshine, opinions, and questionable volume control — and Misty is ready for her next chapter.

She doesn’t need somebody looking for the newest bird on the block. She needs somebody looking for their bird. Someone willing to give a mature girl the attention, patience, love, and home she deserves.

Meet Spice — because a little mystery deserves a name with some attitude. 🌶️💛

Spice came to Safe Perch with no name, no history, and no story we could be told. We don’t know where he’s been or what his life looked like before he landed with us. What we do know is that this handsome cockatiel deserves for the next chapter to be a whole lot better than the last.

He’s got the looks, the crest, the personality — now he just needs his person.

Someone who’ll give him time. Someone who’ll spoil him. Someone who’ll talk to him like he understands every word and love on him until he forgets he ever showed up here as “the bird with no name.”

Spice doesn’t need you to know his past. He just needs someone who wants to be his future. ❤️

Sugar may be 25 years old, but somebody forgot to tell Sugar that. 😂 This little senior still climbs, scoots, poses, and keeps up with the youngsters like retirement isn’t even on the schedule.

He’s older, not out — and he’s got plenty of personality, attitude, and love left to give. Sugar just needs someone who can look past the number and see the sweet little character still going strong underneath those feathers.

Sunshine is a 29-year-old cockatoo, hatched on March 3rd, and he’s getting ready to celebrate the big 3-0! 🎉

With that fabulous orange crest and larger-than-life personality, Sunshine certainly knows how to make an entrance. But don't let the cockatoo reputation fool you — he isn't the loudest guy in the room. When Sunshine does let out a yelp, though, you’d better listen. That’s his way of saying, “Hey! Something's up!”

Hi. I’m Abigail. For the first part of my life, everyone called me Abe because they thought I was a boy.
I let that continue for years.
Then one day I laid an egg.
Apparently that was the moment the humans decided we needed to revisit some paperwork.
So yes, Abe became Abigail, and I personally think the whole thing was hilarious.

I’m a 26-year-old Blue & Gold Macaw with plenty of personality and a few strong opinions. I’m also a feather plucker, but Rob and Laura are working on changing my diet and giving me lots of enrichment, activities, and things to keep my busy macaw brain focused on something besides my feathers. You may also notice a slight scissor beak - Don’t let that discourage you. You will however have to earn my trust. Come at me sideways and you will see what FAFO -(Feather around and find out) means

I love fruit, colored pellets, and when something really hits the spot, I’ll even tell you “YUM!”

So yes, I may be missing a few feathers… but I’m definitely not missing personality.

Sweet, curious, and always ready to investigate anything that was clearly not meant for birds, this little conure brings plenty of personality, comedy, and professionally supervised chaos wherever they go.

Ozzy is a 20+ year-old Umbrella Cockatoo who apparently never received the official cockatoo handbook explaining that he’s supposed to scream at the top of his lungs. 😂 In fact, Ozzy may be the quietest Umbrella Cockatoo we’ve ever had at Safe Perch—and anyone who knows cockatoos understands just how impressive that statement is.

Don’t confuse quiet with boring, though. Ozzy is a character. He loves dancing to music, watching TV, hanging out on top of his cage, and shredding newspapers like they personally offended him. He’ll even reach through the cage, gently grab at you and say “gotcha!” He knows some words too, although—like any respectable cockatoo—he’ll say them when he feels like it.

Ozzy also takes bedtime very seriously. His cage must be completely covered at night, and apparently he will withhold his official “good night” until his accommodations meet his standards. 😂

He’s a sweet, funny, surprisingly mellow guy with more than 20 years of personality behind those big cockatoo eyes. Ozzy would be best suited for someone with large-parrot experience who can give him plenty of attention, interaction, and the kind of home where this wonderfully unusual “quiet cockatoo” can truly be part of the family.
